Are Ergonomic Keyboards Worth It?

Penclic

It's a common question, and we say YES. Here's why an ergonomic keyboard is absolutely worth it.

Ergonomic Keyboards Are Definitely Worth It

At Penclic – you’ll find that we care about your health. If you read our “We Are Penclic” page, the first thing you’ll read is “At Penclic we believe that working on a laptop should not be detrimental to our health and wellbeing.”

This applies to all of our products, but today we’re going to discuss ergonomic keyboards and if they are worth it. We have a strong argument for answering this question with a resounding yes.

The Common Workday

More and more frequently we are working at a computer for long hours every day. When we repeat the same motions day in and day out we can cause strain on our hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, and even our backs.

When you use an ergonomic keyboard you can ensure your body is in the best position for this repetitive activity. Your shoulders will be more relaxed. You will keep your arms closer to your torso, and most importantly your arms will be level. This prevents excess strain while you are typing.

What Makes Penclic Ergonomic Keyboards a Great Choice?

Many of our keyboards have a tenkeyless design. The tenkeyless design – meaning without a number pad – improves your working position by placing your elbows closer to you as you type. Similarly, it reduces the distance to the mouse eliminating unnecessary additional movement.

Our keyboards have a low profile that keeps your wrists as flat as possible helping to prevent and alleviate symptoms of RSI.

The keys on many of our keyboards are scissor-switch keys. Unlike other keyboard types, where the keys are a distance from the keyboard, the keys on a scissor-switch keyboard are usually closer to the keyboard itself, which minimizes the distance of the keys to the keyboard. This makes for fast, effective, and ergonomically correct movements while typing.
